Welcome to our guide on using the Bidding feature, a powerful tool designed to streamline your agency's proposal process on our platform. This feature allows you to automate and customize your bidding strategy for any job search you create.
Initiate Bidding
Once you have created a Job Search, click Bidder in the tab navigation of the selected search.
Step 1: Select the Type of Bidding
Choose a bidding type that suits your project needs and agency strategy.
You can opt for Template Bidding for efficiency or AI-Generating Bidding for customized proposal creation. Selecting the right type helps tailor your approach, enhancing the effectiveness of your bids.
Step 2: Configure Bidding Details
First, select a team member profile representing your agency when sending proposals. The chosen freelancer's profile should align with your agency's brand and expertise, ensuring consistency in your proposals.
Then, set your bidding schedule — either to run 24/7 or during custom days and times. This flexibility allows you to target optimal times when potential clients are most active, increasing the likelihood of your proposal being noticed.
Step 3: Terms
Here you can custom settings for proposal terms on Upwork, which allows you to apply more effectively for hourly and fixed-price jobs.
Step 4: Prepare Cover Letters
If you go with AI-generating bidding, you only have to provide information about your agency to enable the AI to craft personalized and relevant cover letters. Not only does it improve engagement, but it also enhances the personal touch of each proposal.
Step 5: Manage Client Questions
In this step, you'll decide whether to engage with job postings that include client questions, often leading to a more tailored and engaging proposal.
If you opt in, you will need to provide comprehensive information about your agency's experience and past work. Additionally, preparing thoughtful responses to the most common questions you anticipate from clients and those specific to the category of job postings would benefit.
The AI creates clear and relevant answers, ensuring your proposals are professional and appealing. If the client's question is highly unique and you don’t have similar responses available, the AI will craft a tailored reply based on the information in your freelancer profile. It also follows internal guidelines, making your proposal stand out and encouraging the client to check your CV.
This technology adapts to the specific needs of each query, enhancing your ability to communicate effectively with potential clients and increasing your chances of winning the bid.
Step 6: Attachments & GitHub
Attach your files, portfolios, and examples of work by simply clicking Upload or using the drag-and-drop function.
Also, you can include a link to a specific GitHub repository for some job applications on Upwork. However, if you input a link to a resource that is not on GitHub, an error message will appear until you fix it.
While this step is optional, including your GitHub link in job applications that permit it can be beneficial. If you choose not to include a link or the option is unavailable, the application process will proceed as usual.
Step 7: Set Custom Delays
By setting custom delays between sending proposals, you can avoid coming off as too automated. Choose from a wide range of delays for your bids, from 5 to 60 minutes. These time frames have proven to be most effective for successful bids.
Step 8: Set Up Notifications
Job Search Engine (JSE) notifications keep you updated on job search and bidding activities. You can enable notifications for the specific JSE by toggling the switch and adding @getmany_app_bot to the group or channel where you want to receive alerts.
Step 9: Activate and Monitor Your Bidder
Once all settings are configured, review everything on the summary page. Here, you can activate your bidder and edit it as needed. Regular monitoring and adjusting allow you to stay responsive to changes in the market or your business strategy, ensuring your bidding remains effective.
Conclusion
The bidding feature transforms how your agency secures projects by automating and optimizing each part of the process. It allows you to spend more time delivering quality services and less time on administrative tasks, promoting growth and success.
