Setting Up Job Search
Identifying and Entering Skills
List the essential skills your agency offers. For instance, if your agency specializes in software development, you might include skills such as "JavaScript," "React," "Python," or "Ruby on Rails." The more specific you are with your skills, the better the Job Search Engine can target relevant jobs for you.
If your agency needs more opportunities in backend development, try using keywords that include your tech stack, such as "API development," "Python," "JavaScript," and "Node.js." If you're seeking 2D animation projects, use targeted keywords like "2D animation," "motion graphics," and "After Effects.โ
Narrowing Search for Precision: Case Scenarios and Search Mechanism
Agencies specializing in niche areas can benefit from using Focused Search. This feature enables targeting specific jobs by including or excluding keywords in the job title or description.
Such precision ensures that search results include projects requiring specific skills or expertise, aligning perfectly with your agency's capabilities and focus areas.
Searching by Real Skills
When you enter a real skill in the Skills field (e.g., "Facebook ads"), the search engine performs an exact match search in the Skills section of job postings. This means the job must list "Facebook ads" in its skills.
For multiple skills like "Facebook ads, Facebook, ads,โ the search operates on an OR basis but still requires an exact match for each skill.
Quotation Marks & Special Symbols
โ Currently, quotation marks and special symbols normally used in Google search are non-functional. Avoid using them as they break the search logic and do not function as expected.
Using quotation marks and special symbols leads to the search's complete exclusion of the enclosed word. Therefore, avoid using them in search queries as they disrupt the search logic.
Using Filters
Narrow down your job search using filters such as job category, project duration, budget, and client location. These filters allow you to focus on projects that match your criteria.
Project & Budget
The Project & Budget filters allow you to set parameters for your job search, specifying a minimum hourly rate and project duration.
Budget
Min Hourly Rate and Min Fixed Price fields function similarly to job listings on Upwork. Adjust these filters to set the minimum hourly rate and/or fixed price for jobs youโre looking for.
Include Jobs with Unspecified Budget checkbox expands your search results to include jobs with no specified budget. Including these jobs can significantly increase the number of results you see.
Project
Project Duration and Hourly Workload help you narrow down jobs based on project timeline and expected weekly work hours.
Client
Everything related to clients you might want to work with or avoid.
Feedback
Client's Feedback is no less allows you to view jobs with feedback ratings of at least 1, 3, or 5 stars.
You can use the Include clients with no feedback checkbox to include jobs from clients without reviews.
Total Spent & Payment Verification
$ Spent lets you target clients based on their spending patterns.
Payment Method Verified filter is not enabled by default. When it is, it will only show job listings from clients whose payment method is verified.
Company Size & Location
Company Size lets you prefer small or large companies.
You can use the Exclude Client Countries filter to avoid job listings from specific countries.
Client Locations lets you specify the countries you're interested in.
Vendor
Defines the client's requirements and preferences for freelancers.
Preferred Vendor Locations - clients may prefer freelancers from certain locations. Use this field to specify or exclude countries using the Jobs exclusive for these locations function.
Type refers to the client's preference for freelancers, agencies, or both.
Experience Level indicates the required expertise level for the freelancer.
Advanced Search Options
Guidelines on the advanced search options of a Job Search Engine.
Include Jobs of These Words
This field acts as an extension to the Skills and Description sections. For example, if you enter "Facebook ads" in this field, the search will trigger a search for "Facebook ads," "Facebook," or "ads" in both Skills and Titles.
Exclude jobs with these words
This field excludes specified words or phrases from all search fields. For example, if you enter "Facebook, crypto" in this field, the search will exclude job postings containing "Facebook," "crypto," or "Facebook crypto."
If you enter a single phrase, it will exclude the complete phrase. When you separate multiple phrases with commas, the search excludes each term on an OR basis.
Include Search in Description
When you select this checkbox, the search extends to the Job Descriptions, Skills, and Titles. For example, if you enter "Facebook ads" in the Include Jobs of These Words field and select the checkbox, the search will cover Skills, Titles, and Descriptions for "Facebook ads."
By understanding and utilizing these guidelines, you can effectively navigate the current search engine's limitations and enhance your job search experience.
Using Keywords
Researching Keywords: Tools such as UberSuggest or Semrush can assist in finding the right keywords for your job searches. Reflect on your past projects to identify effective keywords.
Targeting More Precisely: Instead of general terms like "software development," opt for more specific ones like "JS web development" or "Python ML." This specificity helps attract jobs that require the exact skills your agency offers.
Current Search Functionality and Limitations
Search Behavior and Engine Constraints
Our current search engine requires the inclusion of Skills in search queries due to a built-in limitation.
As shown in a screenshot below, we have implemented filters that mandate specifying Skills, even if they are irrelevant.
If you enter a non-existent skill and specify your skill in the Include field under Advanced, the Job Search Engine will find matches based only on the Include field.
Accessing Market-Specific Opportunities
Our platform also allows you to search for jobs available only in the US or UK market. Purchase an add-on with a profile that matches the market you're interested in, and let the Job Search Engine do the work.
